PRESENTERS:

Gary Katz is a licensed general contractor in Southern California. For more than 30 years, Katz has specialized in finish carpentry working on a wide range of projects from production housing to unique custom homes. When not presenting at national trade shows, Katz produces The Katz Roadshow; countrywide finish and framing demonstrations brought to local lumberyards. Katz is a frequent contributor to The Journal of Light Construction, Tools of the Trade, Fine Woodworking, and is a contributing editor to Fine Homebuilding and moderator of JLC's online finish carpentry forum. Katz is author of the The Doorhanger's Handbook and Finish Carpentry: Efficient Techniques for Custom Interiors and produces the OnSite Educational Homebuilding DVD Series. Come early to find a spot to watch Katz in action at his clinic.

Mike Sloggatt owner of Sloggatt General Contractors, a high-end remodeling firm in Long Island, New York, specializes in single-family detached homes built between 1900 and 1955. Sloggatt has over 25 years of experience, with a focus on extensive makeovers that require in-depth knowledge of past building techniques and transparent application of modern technology.

Without our stage manager, Tom Brewer, the JLC LIVE building specialists would have a difficult time getting anything built. Brewer handles, maintains and tracks the materials the JLC LIVE crew requires in order to manage 16 – 20 demonstrations on the show floor with three events per year. When not keeping the crew stocked with wood, fasteners and well-maintained tools, Brewer is a general contractor running his business, Brewer Construction in Halstead, Pennsylvania. Not always behind the scenes, you can find Brewer on stage at the Frame and Finish Clinic lending a very skillful hand to Mike Sloggatt.
