Continuing Education Credits

Interested in obtaining continuing education credits at JLC LIVE from:  AIBD  |  BPI  |  NAHB  |  NARI  


AIBD (AMERICAN INSTITUE OF BUILDING DESIGN)     

All of our classroom conference sessions qualify for AIBD continuing education credits (CE’s).  In a given year you need 8 CE’s with 1 class hour OR 1 clinic hour = 1 credit.  For more information about AIBD, please go to www.aibd.org.  For specific questions about the AIBD designations and requirements, contact Steve Mickley, at 800-366-2423 or at steve@aibd.org. 

 

BPI (Building Performance Institute, Inc) Continuing Education Units
BPI has approved some of our classes for continuing education units and we will be applying for more CEU approvals. Please check with the conference manager for more information by writing

Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License Continuing Education Credits

Two of our classes are recognized by the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards for continuing CSL education requirements.  They are:

Wednesday, March 21, 2012  8:00 am – 5:30 pm:
OSHA Fall Protection Training Course (Provider, Cook Professional Resources) is recognized by the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards as satisfying 3CEU hours of credit for Workplace Safety  toward continuing CSL education requirements.

Friday, March 23, 2012  3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
FR13  OSHA Overview for Residential Construction taught by Darcy Cook is recognized by the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations and Standards as satisfying 1.5 Credits for Workplace Safety toward continuing CSL educational requirements.
 


NAHB UNIVERSITY OF HOUSING'S CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

Our JLC LIVE classroom conference sessions (from Wednesday – Saturday) in Providence, RI, meet NAHB’s continuing education requirements for the following designations:  Certified Graduate Builder (CGB), Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), Certified Green Professional (CGP).

Maintaining Your NAHB Designations:

Your designation requires two parts:  an annual renewal fee (during your three-year designation period) and completion of continuing education requirements at the end of the three –year designation period .  Continuing education credit may be earned by attending any building industry related educational course, class or event.  See some examples listed below:

Building industry related education Hours Completed:

    • Complete an NAHB Education course
    • Teach an NAHB Education course
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for an NAHB Education Course
    • Be an active member in a Builder or Remodeler 20 Club
    • Attend a national, regional, or state trade show or educational symposium, NAHB Board meeting, or chair an NAHB national committee
    • Successfully earn a building industry related professional designation
    • Complete a business management related or building industry related course or seminar conducted by a college, university, technical school or other professional organization
    • Manufacturer Product Training – The following items are examples that count towards fulfillment of this section: sponsored education on business or installation techniques; facility tours; fabrication process demonstrations; product demonstrations

NARI (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REMODELERS INDUSTRY)NARI CEU Approved
Our JLC LIVE full-day sessions on Wednesday, March 23 qualify for NARI CEU’s – Continuing Education Units, as do all the other regular classroom conference sessions. CEU Credit equivalents are as follows:
6 hr class =  .6 CEU   3 hr class = .3 CEU   90 minute class =  .15 CEU   75 minute and 60 minute class = .1 CEU

MAINTAINING YOUR NARI CERTIFICATION:

Your CR, CRA, CRA, CKBR and GCP Certifications require:
1.  1.0 CEU (10 Hours of Continuing Education) each year.
2.  Participate in community service project or chapter project.
3.  Read trade publication to remain current in the industry.

 

Your CLC Certification requires:
1.  0.5 CEU (5 hours of Continuing Education) each year.
2.  Participate in community service project or chapter project.
3.  Read trade publication to remain current in the industry.

Candidates for the Certified Remodeler (CR), Certified Remodeler Specialist (CRS), Certified Remodeler Associate (CRA), Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR) and Green Certified Professional (GCP) must complete and submit an application for consideration by the NARI Certification Board.  In addition to completing and submitting an application to qualify for the requested certification exam, candidates must have been in the remodeling industry full time for a minimum of 5 consecutive years.  Candidates must also have completed a minimum of 16 hours of formal or continuing education within the last 5 years.  Applicants for Certified Lead Carpenter in addition to completing and submitting an application to qualify for the CLC certification exam, candidates must have been in the remodeling industry full time for a minimum of 5 consecutive years and must have worked as a lead carpenter, as defined above, for a minimum of 2 years. 

There are two new certifications:  Master Certified Remodeler (MCR) and Universal Design Certified Remodeler (UDCR).  Each requires 1.0 CEU for renewal and the UDCR requires .8 CEU’s to apply.  For more information or questions on NARI certification please contact NARI directly:
